Talk To Me

I'm going to say something very true, its a lesson I picked up in church. "DON'T GO IN RAW DOG WITH THE SPIRIT WORLD!" This movie shows us the deeply fucked up scary fun it can be. Yes fun. I mean it's just a fun game. You grab a mysterious embalmed hand, get possessed for like 90 seconds and it over. The euphoric rush of a jumpscare and letting a ghost control your body around like its a Nissan Altima. Plus the rush of knowing you basically slapped the Grim Reaper and God in the back of the head and ran off. Here's the thing, how long can you do this before shit gets real? My girl Mia found that out!

The movie takes place in Adelaide, Australia. Australian Phoenix. Oh yea, it's a foreign flick. 3BG getting sexy. Mia (played by Sophie Wilde) lost her mother a year ago and is in so many words ready live life again, despite being awkward at school and not speaking to her American sounding father. (That's not a knock movie, just weird) While at a house party, she's the first to join in on the paranormal fun. Everything is gravy, until the second party. At the 40 minute mark, the "shit just got real" button is jammed and broke off for the remainder of the movie. Mia has to close this door before it consumes her and everyone she loves.

First off, its always nice to see a horror movie that has characters you don't hate but absolutely root for and also WRITES TEENS WELL. It has zero problem with properly setting up a jump scare or setting the atmosphere and tension. The acting is good and sometime VERY FUCKING GOOD! And without giving away too much, the Sam Raimi is strong in this movie. S/O to Joe Bird for tattooing that possession scene in my brain. And Sophie had me legit rooting for sis. Perfect ending. RackaRacka made a banger.

I highly recommend this movie. It deserves all the praise its getting and will get in the future.
