Chief Of Station

The VOD section is filled with people who had mainstream success. There is ZERO shame in taking that step down to B and C Grade movies. This isn't before the 2010s when you saw a B movie for sale in Wal-Mart and you question the quality of the film before watching it. Many budding stars, directors, writers, stuntmen, and choreographers cut their teeth in this section. And every now and then you get a good movie that should've had a wide theatrical release. That ain't "Chief of Station", this is a USA Network featured movie on a Saturday at 2 pm. And I think I'm being nice when I say that.

So Aaron Eckhart is in another movie where he plays a CIA officer working in Eastern Europe. TELL ME IF YOU HEARD THIS BEFORE! He and his wife are both agents who work undercover. His wife dies in an explosion while they are on a date. Months pass and he gets a cryptic message that leads him back to Europe. Aaron has a lead on who was behind her murder and he has to get reacquainted with his former partner and Russian ally who is a mob boss now. While this is going on his son is kidnapped and his old partner is in on the whole thing. That's not a spoiler, the second time you see him, he's CLEARLY the bad guy. We find out his wife was killed because of a plot to like...I dunno, fuck over NATO or something. CIA was behind it. Again, I don't care that I might have spoiled that.

While I'm not a fan of this story there are a few actors of worth in this. Nick Moran from one of my favorite movies of all time "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" is in this playing a Russian. Meh, he's not bad but it's like "Bruv, you're English!". Alex Pettyfer plays his partner and I'd like to say, "WTF, WHY ARE YOU IN THIS!?" Daniel Bernhardt, looks badass but is nothing more than Russian goon #26712867, but he's still badass. Finally, Olga Kurylenko, a person who shouldn't be here but DEFINITELY should be here. The movie was directed by Jesse V. Johnson. He isn't a bad action director but in all honesty, the action in this is sloppy and lazy.

4 out of 10, not worth your time
